End Of Term Mass

 

We always end our term with a beautiful mass to give thanks for the many blessings. 

Today our learners did the readings and the prayers.

THANK YOU SARDA VOLUNTEERS for a an EGGstatic last lesson 🐰🐰🐰

Today was our final horse therapy session for Term 1. All the riders had a swell time, even riding on an out door path. When our lesson was over our beloved volunteers surprised us with fantastic Easter Egg Hunt. We had a ball of a time and everyone found a chocolatey treasure. Thank you for the thoughtful session and Happy Easter Holidays to us all!.

Wacky Week Begins

Junior School Swimming Gala 🏊🏊🏊

Today started out looking a little gloomy, yet our star swimmers stood ready to play their part in the St Joseph's Marist College Junior Swimming Gala. The pool was all decorated , officials were sat at the finishing line to collect the winners and parents came to cheer us on.

Table Cricket Festival 2023 🏏🏏

 

Today a few of our Junior Class learners participated in -what will be- an annual Table Cricket Festival. Thank you to Coach Bradlyn of Sporting Chance for inviting us and Lord Taverner's for sponsoring a very successful event, which hosted a wide variety of LSEN schools.

It is not often that a young person can say they have played Newlands Stadium, but we did! We all gathered in the picturesque Old Oaks Room and played a round robin between 9 schools. Every team walked away a winner with fantastic prizes of Flip files, limited edition table cricket bats, team shirts as well as participation certificates.

What a wonderful opportunity for special needs kids to take part in something unique and well supported by dedicated coaches and organizers. A wonderful time was had by all!

Like a fish to water

 No matter if it's a cloudy day , even if it's windy and threatening with rain, our learners never shy away from the opportunity to get wet . Please enjoy this video of our water babies enjoying the last splash of the swimming season.

Happy Human Rights Day

As we enjoy a day of rest and family, let us remember the true meaning of Human Rights Day in South Africa. May we bring to mind the sacrifices of those who contributed to the peace, hope, dignity, rule of law, prosperity and justice of the free society we enjoy today.

Macaroni Chicken Bake....yum yum!

 

Learners had fun following a recipe on how to make a pasta chicken bake.

What an achievement !! 🚲

It's always a good day to smell the roses

 

Even though it was raining, our learners made the most of their outing and were able to see some beautiful sights including a few frogs, the mountains and flowing rivers as well as learn some interesting facts about South Africa's flowers and a few alien ones... Eric, our wonderful tour guide was full of knowledge and facts about the gardens and each learner got to take a sample card with some of the flowers and trees that we saw at Kirstenbosch. In the photos you can see our learners helping each other with some colouring and discovery work as well as pointing out things in the garden, not to mention some stunning poses as we took advantage of the beautiful surrounds for some selfies.

The Integration Configuration

Every Tuesday, the Matrics come to visit our learners and they play a variety of games, build puzzles, visit our drawing and colouring stations as well as the reading corner. This week, the favourites were dominoes and memory games.
