Power Cuts, Back up Plans and Grande Sized!

This week has been a trying week with electricity troubles making us all feel a little loopy between coffee withdrawals and being without our computers and lights. It's given us a new appreciation for this period of no load shedding that we have all enjoyed. During a subject where power is very much needed, both teachers and learners showed off our abilities to adapt and make a fun back-up plan using Lego to demonstrate coding in an "unplugged" and exciting way. Some of our parents also showed such generosity in spoiling us with Cappuccino's and Hot Chocolates. We as a staff give a huge thank you for this unexpected treat!

Pyjama Day

When we said it was Pyjama Day, we didn't know all the kids would want to do is sleep all day but amidst "pretend naps" and the "loudest" snores - we managed to catch some rare sightings of unicorns and Glamour Girls, puppy dogs and bears too, Lemon Land and of course The Doughnut Queen. The learners all looked so cozy and warm we wish we could have Pyjama Day every day.

Left and Right and Up and Down and Topsy Turvy

In Listening & Speaking, the Junior Class learners practiced following instructions in a fun game called River/Bank which we later adapted to include directional instructions to reinforce awareness of their left and rights. The learners thoroughly enjoyed this lesson and boy were we impressed with how well they could listen and follow the instructions even when we tried to catch them out... Well done everyone!

Garden Project: Phase 2

Over the past few days, the dedicated team at My Home Garden has been flattening and preparing the ground for the next phase of development. The result is a transformed space that is now free from weeds and is breathing fresh air.

We are ready and super excited for the next step in our gardening journey.

A BIG THANK YOU to our wonderful parents

To each and every household that contributed to our  Soup Drive today, we are so moved and grateful for your generosity. We made a pot of soup big enough to dish at least 60 servings, some came back for 2nds and 3rds.

And who were our chefs? The young and talented children in our SNU. Every child played a part in making the broth: peeling and grating, adding and stirring. We warmed so many bellies and were even able to share the blessing of those contributions and send each and every Support Staff member home with a soup pack too. Thank you again to the SNU Family, you have touched many hearts and homes!

Garden Project Phase 1

During the holidays My Home Garden was busy with Phase 1 of our Garden Project.

Installed netting on the fence to provide some shelter and safety from onlookers.

The designated area was cleaned and cleared of all rubble and items.
The trees were trimmed to provide more sunshine to enter the area.

Existing pots were painted for a fresh look.
